Yes, you read that correctly. Our day started with meeting hip hop recording artist D. Lee at Tidal Wave Water Sports on Immigration Street in downtown Charleston, SC. D. Lee wanted to create a fun atmosphere for his hip hop music video in Charleston, SC, and jetski riding beside the Ravenel Bridge was just the ticket! Armed with our drone, we set up shots with D. Lee as he sped around the water and showed off his doughnut turning skills. The guys from Tidal Wave Sports were great too. They were very helpful in working with us to help capture the best video footage possible. After all, communicating with someone riding on a jetski hundreds of feet away from the dock isn't easy. Especially while we're flying and filming with a drone.
The trick was to plan our shots before D. Lee ever took off on his jetski. So, we worked closely with him to envision the look he wanted, and also what we knew would look the most appealing through the lens. after all, ideas are great, but results are even better. Thankfully, D. Lee handled the filming like a pro and made it happen out on the water. We're very proud of the shots we got and even managed to capture an opening shot with the Ravenel Bridge behind him as he floated in the water. It definitely made for a great look as the opening title pops up on the screen at the start of the music video.

Once we wrapped at the water, we gathered the rest of our footage at The Battery under the large Oak Trees and the gazebo. By lowering our cameras and raising their filming angle, we captured some amazing shots as D. Lee rapped through the song. He brought maximum effort and energy throughout our hip hop music video production in Charleston, SC, and we enjoyed every second of it. Once we were finished at the gazebo, we made our way over to a crosswalk nearby. Convertible cars drove by cheering for D. Lee as he rapped through his song and danced to keep the video hype. We weren't sure how folks would react to our filming in that area, but everyone we passed seemed to really enjoy the music and our presence. Can't wait to go back!
