Real Estate Photography in Historic Downtown Aiken, SC

Any time we get the opportunity to take real estate photos in historic downtown Aiken, SC, we make the most of it. Many people would pay to simply take a tour of these homes, yet we are lucky enough to be hired to capture their beauty in photos that show off their best qualities. Recently, we were tasked with photographing a historic home on Whiskey Road listed at $1,400,000. It was a great experience from start to finish!

From the moment you arrive at this beautiful home, you are greeted by a grand, wooden gate right off of Whiskey Road. For an easier route, there is also a rear entrance via the driveway from the back of the property. As any local in Aiken, SC knows, Whiskey road traffic isn't for the faint of heart. So naturally, I took the back entrance. When you first arrive you are greeted by the carriage house that flanks the lot. Painted white to match the main home, it is a lovely property in its own right. The current resident of the carriage house event suggested parking a her bicycle in the front, along with fresh flowers in the basket for an added touch. Needless to say, I took her up on the offer.

Once inside the main property, you are greeted by a grand staircase and features original to the home. Some updating has taken place, but the characteristics that made the home unique from the start still exist today. Numerous working fireplaces greet you throughout the home, a welcome touch for a historic building. The large formal dining room even has a striking fireplace nestled in the corner. Upstairs there are perfect spots for reading and relaxing, as every room seems to have floods of natural light.

When taking real estate photos with windows like these, you have to ensure the highlights outside aren't blown out. Otherwise, you lose every bit of charm the amazing views and light offer. After all, the real hero of many of these rooms are the windows and their views. Lose those, and a real estate photographer hasn't really done their job. I'd say we nailed in at this real estate photography session in historic downtown Aiken, SC.
